Karin Plato is a marvellous Canadian jazz singer who has staked out unique terrain for herself. She combines sophisticated song writing with careful investigation into the jazz standard tradition. Plato vocalises with authority and is backed by three competent groups of Vancouver's best jazzmen. Her duet with Denzal Sinclaire on the underperformed "Let's take an Old Fashioned Walk" makes for compelling listening.
