Singing some of these seasonal songs brings back memories of childhood Christmases at home on the prairies with my parents and my two sisters. Often after Christmas Eve service in church we would head home to our pine-scented house where we three girls would present our own little concert of carols. When we were children we would sing the songs and as we grew older we became instrumentalists with Heidi playing the piano, Peggy on the bass clarinet and myself on the flute.After the music we would open our gifts, as is the tradition in our family. Meanwhile Christmas records that had been filed away for the year came out again to keep the atmosphere festive. I still love many of the songs that we used to listen to at Christmas time and return to them each year. Some of those songs are here on this recording.
I would like to thank the wonderful musicians for playing for this Christmas collection. How very inspiring to be singing with such incredibly talented musicians! Andre, Bill, Brad, Chris, Dave, Kerry and Lou, thank you for fitting this project into your busy schedules. Sandra and Kerry, thank you for your hard work “great ears.” May this recording bring you some joy at Christmas time!
